  • Little burble when first applying throttle

Most noticeable in 4th gear at low rpm. If I am off the gas and go to give it gas, it get a little burble then it goes just fine. I did plugs, wires, cap and rotor, and finally new fuel filter. I cleaned the carb out a little bit and sprayed some cleaner though the gas line when I was doing the fuel filter.

I know the air temp sensor is broken in the air filter housing but as some one stated that is primarily for warm up(check other thread). I think a new coil might fix it, or rebuilding the carb (really want to avoid that). I adjusted the timing and it is actually +2/+3 advanced. Any other suggestions?

    Thanks,
    Ian

coil is probably beat, no hurt in putting a new MSD blaster2 in there.

Check the base timing....the 'burble' is a typical symton....thou usually in all gears.

Could be the first sign of some degradation in compression.

it does happen in all gears, i played with the timing a bunch and this was the best feeling setting and its about +2 - +3

I will check compression too, doesn't burn any oil and aside from the burble it runs really good.

                      a "burble" must be a carb'd term

never had that happen on my FI

decel fuel cut solenoid is gummed up. Uncle Fester did that till I pulled and cleaned it.

It's a small one-wire solenoid, screwed into the carb body on the driver's side, on the back corner. Unscrew it, clean it and it's bore with carb clean, screw it back in, road test. If it persists, you may need a carb rebuild (fuel leaking past the solenoid) or a new solenoid. Either way, it's really not hurting anything. Decel fuel cut is designed to lower tailpipe emissions, and only VERY SLIGHTLY increase fuel economy.
