      picked up the right tstat from mazda... 5 min from home my mcparts one starts working! think im gonna switch it anyway new head gasket and all...

        Yes, those part numbers are dual stage t-stats.

          hey, when installing 2 stage t-stat, would the subvalve be top middle, or the little bypass hole? haynes says bypass on older, valve on newer. bypass has arrow pointing out, valve is centered above spring valve like so

            i think i installed mine with the small valve on the side, and the bypass hole on top.. like the 2nd picture.

              yeah thanks ejp just found a thread 'bout it, apparently it's all good ass long as the bypass (little valve) is in the top half, ftr. i think i'll put it... 3* right of tdc... no better make that left

                man does that tstat ever make a difference! i get heat in -30 in minutes! no more oil in my coolant either. temp. is holding at normal. all in all- great success (so far)

                  yep! extracting every joule of heat from these cars is worth it! especially where you are at!
