Imagine trying to change a tire out on the highway if you can't get the lug bolts off. I'm sure they do it to avoid being sued when a wheel falls off. If it's written on the service order they are protected from a lawsuit.
When ever I buy tires...I deliver the rims to the shop...I'll never let anyone near my lug nuts. When i drop a car off for saftey inspection I inform them that if I can not remove them with the lug wrench in the trunck...I'm not paying.

What do you do after you use a long breaker bar and 6 point socket and round of the bolt head as you break the socket?

yeah, i get that every time at my local JR. today it was 14mm, ratchet + old exhaust off of some ford or another. broke a 1/2 to 3/8 converter once. threw on my 3/8 14mm and an old differential (if that's what connects the drive shaft to the rear wheels) that was lying around and kazam! off as easy as filling your oil.

since you are doing this by hand go to a local tool store and buy a 1\2 torque multiplier.
they use a planitary gear drive to multiply the torque you are applying. usually there 3-1 ratio's.

so if you can deliver 600 ft lbs by hand using a pipe on a breaker bar this will give you 1800 ft lbs with the exact same effort on your part.

if this is a one time deal borrow the tool from somebody.

easiest thing is air. i have an ingersol rand 293 .... 2k ft lbs. if it dosnt losen em it breakes em everytime lol. good luck!!

Get a good quality 6 point socket and try it first. If that doesn't work, stick weld it to the bolt through the square drive hole. Put your breaker bar on it and back it out.

It's free!!! it's free!!! Thank you Lord it's free!!!! Took it back to Big 10 and they broke the right front loose for me (again). Now I have 4 matching rims/tires

That said I got back out on the road when I left the tire shop and noticed that my steering wheel was turned to the right about 2 inches (off center). It wasn't that way when I went in. I called the tire shop back and they said they did nothing but break the studs loose. I watched most of what they did but didn't see everything. I can't prove they did anything to the car but something's not right. They said to bring it back in the morning but they are adament they did nothing wrong. Any ideas?

Everytime I get one thing fixed another problem crops up. Hopefully this is not a big one.
