  • sleeve on stabilizer bar?

Is there a metal sleeve used on the stabilizer bar that passes thru the rubber bushings of the control arm? Or is this rusted and deformed end i'm looking at part of the stabilizer itself? Thanks

no, there is no metal sleeve around the stabilizer bar... the bushing just encases the bar.
if it is rusted out BAD then i'd consider getting another one at a JY or something... and new bushings as well. they're on rockauto.com, i think thats where i got mine.

I wasn't sure. The Haynes manual said nothing about a bushing or sleeve. I locked onto it with the vice grips to see if i could spin it and nothing happened. There's enough meat left on it to still be used. But it will have to be replaced within a year or two. Thanks

Are you talking about the bushings under the radiator or at the control arm?

If the sway bar is rusted thin at the control arm...not a safe condition...if the sway bar lets go...the wheel will end up under the passenger compartment and the body where the top of the strut and control arm will be trashed.
