  • water pump...

Well I was putting a new water pump and timing belt on and I looked at the new and old pump before installing to see if everything matched up. When I finally installed the water pump and timing belt and put everything on, when I went to put the pump pulley on the shaft stuck out waaaay to far for the belt to go on... so I'm baffled... I did use gasket sealer to put the gasket on, so maybe if I put too much it wouldn't sit all the way? I didn't torque it because I haven't got a torque wrench so maybe I didn't tighten all the way? Idk... I need some help tho

you may have had the pulley on backward... (this is the 3 10mm bolts right) try that...

no prob! if you're like me you have to do it wrong before you get it right.

Yeah.. the only downside is that I took it off to make sure that they were the same and I ruined the new gaskets that came with it so I just got back from Autozone and have to wait till tomorrow to get new gaskets

I'd always get mad when i was havin an issue, and my dad would walk over and fix it in a matter of minutes. He'd just laugh, and reply that he'd been wrenching since about forever, and it all comes with time.

Lol, right when I told my dad the issue he knew what was wrong, but he didn't decide to tell me because he wanted me to mess up, so I would learn, and so he could laugh at me.... a lot...

I love my Auto Tech class... we have a projector in the shop so we get lectures while we are working on stuff, especially now that our teacher is using our rebuild of a VW pancake to show the class internals of an engine... plus he is fascinated by the engine itself.
