  • 90 festy runs, wont drive. transmission help please.

Not new to mechanics, but new to Festy and FWD transmissions.

I shifted it hard and it felt like it popped out of gear.

Now the engine runs great like it always has and shifts into every gear fine (shifter linkage is fine) but somewhere between the clutch and the axles power is not making it through

The speedo works and i can here that slight buzz of gears not quite meshing when it is in gear and clutch is out. so I'm thinking that whatever the gear between the diff and trans gears is called is the culprit.

Any educated info would be much appreciated before I dig in.

    Thanks in advance.

sounds like your spider gears took a dump. can you make the speedo work without moving and the wheels on the ground?

Thanks guys, that is what I assumed, I am in Seattle area. I'll start looking.

Sweet 185 hp festy that revs to the moon. Only bad thing is that R1 motors do not make as much torque as a stock festy motor but when you get it going it will scream!! Lots of pics required.

Yes, slightly less torque with stock gearing, but it will be significantly geared down. Also projected weight will be below 1500lbs if my math is correct. That will help with the lack of torque. Originally wanted Busa motor, but got a complete 05 R1 and as Ipart it out the motor is almost free!

also check your halfshafts. If one pops out of the side-gear, it will have exactly these symptoms, and not loose fluid around the axle seal.

FB71, you are a saint, removed axle, cleaned up the input end and cir-clip and popped er back in and went for a drive!

                    Thanks.
