  • A/C questions and Tranny probs,I think.Automatic

First, the a/c ...I bought a belt for the compressor and it looks like the compressor doesn't even go in line with anything else.Is there a trick to it ?/ Also, the belt I was sold by AZ looks too small..Also,how much should I put in the system once I change the fittings over ?

Second, coming back from Ohiostiva my car seemedto stay at 55 at one point.I floored it and it would not go any faster.I was going 70 earlier,so,it does go faster.also,it is an auto and sometimes you have to jiggle the auto on the floor(shifter) to get it in each gear.Would it be the cables ? Why would it only stay at 55 for a few while pressed to the floor ?
    Also,I ran a high idle(IMO) all the way back.Over 3k rpm.

Did you install the A/C or was it already there?

There is a 2nd pulley that bolts to the crank, which drives the compressor. It isn't present on Festivas that were not equipped with A/C originally.

I don't think your speed problem is with the transmission, although the shifter might be out of adjustment. My auto will easily go 55 in 2nd or 3rd gear.

Def looks like you are missing the pulley that bolts to the crank to drive the compressor. Not to mention I don't see the tensioner there for the ac belt either.

Tony do you know if the engine was ever changed on the car? It seems that way. You neeed to go to the Festiva srap yard and get hose parts, I'd go with ya to make sure you get all you need because i need some trinkets myself.

Not really. But you do need some parts to begin to get it workin.
