  • i broke my festy again

i was looking under my hood earlier and noticed a big wire connecting the starter to the solenoid was all burnt up so i pushed on it a lil and it broke.....
    oops
so i bolted on a fresh wire to the solenoid and connected it to starter
then i tryed starting it and the starter worked but it wont fire

    then...
i ran a hot wire from my amp to the fuel pump under the back seat
and it will start up with the hot wire attached but runs rough
so im thinking it is something electrical right?

Going from memory...The (+) wire goes from the battery to the solenoid...where it lands on the solenoid is anothe (+) wire that feeds the car....did you remember to also re-connect that wire...or if the one wire broke this one is probalbly pretty corroded.

the wires look good on the starter now.....
its just the fuel pump isnt turning on when i try and start it
i dont know why messing with the starter stopped the fuel pump from turning on..

check you VAF, there's a fuel pump control (on/off) switch wire in that harness.

It seems that you may have pulled a wire out and I am thinking it may be one of the wires on the coil, I have a carb model and it has happened to me so check the (-) terminal and my Festy has a blue wire and a yellow wire with a green trace, they are spade terminals so they can be easily disturbed, before you give up all hope make sure they are secure and also check the centre post on the coil for corrosion, also the centre post on the distributor, its the white powdery stuff that causes the problem....we spell center different from you guys, its just our flash way of spelling here in Aotearoa (NZ) :hello1:

              it was my ignition switch
i jiggled it around a lil
put my screw driver in and turned
              and it started right up
