  • A/C help

I have a 93 GL automatic with air. When I turn it on I can't hear the compressor start and the RPM's don't drop. When I pulled the filler cap and hit the tiny button it is pressurized. Can anybody direct me to what to check next? I have to get this working to make it a daily driver to haul my 2 little girls. thanks

I assume it worked before? If it's still holding pressure I will assume it's got plenty of freon. It's then gotta be electrical.

    Did you check your fuses?

If you did that, check all the connections inside and ouside the car. Might be time to break out the multi-meter and check the relays as well.

Post back with your findings. BTW, I'm no expert here but I've been fooling with my festy's A/C long enough that I can install and troubleshoot it in my sleep.

Look at the relay behind the drivers headlight mine got upside down and held water bc of the little boot that is supposed to keep it dry.

I looked and no fuse in the small drivers side fusebox is labled A.C. and the 3 fusible links aren't it either. Are there more?

There's a 20 amp fuse in the panel which I think is marked for the cooling fan. Mine burnt out due to a fan gone bad and discovered that the A/C compressor is on the same circuit.

            Hope that helps!

Auto has three relays... the third one is for the condensor fan.

BTW the light on the AC button does come on when it is pushed in and the fan is on. The fan works and the heat works.

Try a test light on the wire that goes to the compresser clutch.

The 20 amp fuse inside is good.
