  • No air thru heater vents or defrost.

I have a 91 Festiva GL. The blower motor works fine when venting out thru panel. However, I am getting not getting any air out thru heater ducts or the defrost no matter what setting I have fan on. I hear the fan running but no air. Any ideas? Thanks. Also, I recently put head gasket/block sealent in the radiator. Not sure if there is connection or not.

That radiatior fix stuff can clog a heater core. No heat comes from the dash vents anyways, only defrost and floor.....the way festiva were designed. I'd check for blockage in your ducting....like mouse nest...or clogged heater core

Thanks for reply. I know no heat goes thru dash. I only mentioned that to show blower fan is working. I will check for blocked duct. A clogged heater core would cause heater to blow cold instead of hot. Correct?

yes....no air through the defrost and floor sounds like a air duct blockage.

or in some cases a mouse in the fan cage

also look at the cable on the immediate right side of the center console, near the firewall, to see if the duct positioning gear is switching properly

Thanks for your replies. I think maybe it was operator error. If the lever is at the coldest setting no air goes thru heater/defrost ducts. I did check for clogs found none but after fiddling around, the heater worked properly. After I moved lever to coldest setting it didn't. I moved it over into the red zone and it worked fine again.

I've have festiva's for years but never realized what I just learned. I feel a little silly though.

                Thanks again.
