I asked for the oil viscosity because, recently the engine started to make a ticking noise. I think it's a hydraulic lifter. A few weeks ago, I added 2 different types of oil in the engine because they were in the garage & I wanted to use them. One was 15w-40 and the other was 20w-50. Could it be the fault?
I've run 100% 20W-50 in the summer in Georgia without problems.
I'm more concerned about the 15w-40, which sounds like a diesel oil to me.
Not so much about the viscosity but formulation is for a diesel engine not a gasoline engine.
Diesels need different oil formulations due to different issues that may not play all that well with gasoline engine formulations.

Diesel oils are usually rated for gas engines too, in fact they are usually better (or even REQUIRED) for older engines with slider cams that need zddp. Im running rotella t synthetic in everything I have right now.

Straight 30w in summer, and 10w30 in winter. I have been known to use 20w50 in summer cause they dont always have 30w in the 5qt bottles (little cheaper than buying quart bottles). No problem with it.
