  • Lower Control Arm on 89 Festiva

    i have a 1989 ford festiva and the ball joint is shot but i have another part festiva that i can take the arm off of but i can only un bolt a little bit and then wont go any farther(on both in same spot) and was wondering how they come off

    Which end are you talking about? Upper end, or down by the pinch bolt?

      if your talking about where the rear of the control arm bolts into the frame box, there is usally a nut that is tack welded and will brake loose and just spin, so you have to hold the nut some how if possible, i know this is a common problem knock on wood i havent had to deal with it yet

          Is your car rusty? If so then the hidden nut is the problem. Spray them thru the access holes with a penetrating oil. Then work back and forth till they free up. It is VERY easy to break them off. I've done that a few times.
