I think I would still try to replace the rounded Oil pan bolt though.

      Update:

Cleaned engine bay with simple green. Dang the silver is showing (didnt know it could get that clean)

So gonna drive for a few days and see exactly where it is coming from. Someone suggested that it could be the valve gasket (above sparks plugs) and is just dripping down.

*If the gasket is the case then what would I need to take off? (carb model)

Just look at the motor; it will be obvious what needs to come off. It's not very difficult. This is a pretty easy project so just dive in and do it, and you'll get confidence to tackle more things.

If some issue comes up in any project, someone here will know how to help you.

The more I look at this, it doesn't look like leaking from the valve cover; that would just seep down the engine and get it dirty. This looks more like someone left the oil filler cap off while the motor was running.

Others have any thoughts as to what else it could be, or agree with me?

I wish I could borrow my gfs cam because I swear the whole left side of the valve gasket cover seems to be all oily. The picture doesnt do it justice. I will post better/detailed pictures this time tommorow

Crank seal is leaking and the timing belt in flinging the oil. Your VC is probably leaking too. Dont try changing the oil pan gasket. You dont have to drop the motor. Where is your timing belt cover ? That keeps dust and dirt out of the crank seal. Thats my 2 cents. Keep drying stuff off and checking it. You will find where its coming from.

Thanks, the timing and everything inside (crank) is completely dry. I will post piks before i do the gasket then if it continues then the crank might be it

Btw thnx for the insight fresh

I'm pretty sure that is your camshaft seal. While you're at it, you should change the timing belt, timing belt tensioner, water pump, and crankshaft seal.

This is how my engine looked before I replaced all the above mentioned parts. Now it's dry as a bone.

                        update:

Anyways the crank/cam might need replacing but as you can see (MOST) of the oil is coming from the valve cover gasket

Oil is probably coming out of valve cover....air coming through the grill carries it to the firewall passenger engine mount area. But yes your front crank and cam seals probably need to be changed also. All that can be done on a weekend. It's not like you go to school 7 days a week.

Yeah, but he was asking what to take off to do the valve cover gasket. Doing the seals might be a little out of his league without supervision/assistance.

I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to change a valve cover gasket. You would have to remove the intake and the bolts securing the valve cover to the cylinder head. At this time it might be a good idea to change those rubber/plastic gomets that are under each valve cover bolt.

Right, I think he could do that much, it's the seals that are more involved.
