  • Oil in coolant

Hi everyone, I sold my 88 lx about a year and a half ago and missed it quite a bit. Last week I found a 92 gl in good shape but overheating. There's a noticeable amount of oil in the cooling system (radiator cap has milky deposits) but no water in the oil. I though it could be a headgasket problem, but wouldn't you also see water in the oil? Anyway, I changed the oil and it was clean. Aside from the overheating issue, the car is in great shape. I also removed the valve cover and re-torqued the head bolts and removed the radiator to flush it. I also removed the thermostat housing to see if the problem was there only to find that the previous owner had removed the t-stat already. After putting everything back together, the car is not overheating anymore but there's still oil in the coolant. Again, no water/coolant in the oil. Any thoughts??

Anyway, I got the car for $400 so I'm really happy even if I have to replace the head or the engine. I already replaced the stereo with an Alpine IDA-X100 unit and now I need to go get some decent speakers.

I'm thinking the head was warped when it overheated. Probably have to have it milled flat to get rid of the oil in coolant issue.

Yes, if I have to replace the head gasket I might as well do the whole engine since the car has 178K on the clock. And if I'm doing the whole thing, might as well put something with a bit more power under the hood

Can you smog (I'm in CA) a Festiva with a b6 in it?

Can they tell the difference between a B3 and a B6 by looking at it?
So unless you tell them, how would they know if you had a B6 in there.

Except for the VC, the engines look the same. Change VC's and they"ll have no clue.
