Correct tyre pressures.

Can anyone tell me what are the correct tyre pressures for front and rear on the stock tyres from the car label because mine is not readable?

According to the sticker on my door jam, here's the specs.

For 145/12 (front and rear) 32 psi
For 165/70/R12s (front and rear) 29 psi

Can't get either size here, only option for 12" tires is 155/R12s which I generally run at around 30-31 psi.

Hmm, did not know that. But I was more referring to what's kept in stock locally around here. 155/R12 is pretty much it.

Seems the manufacturer changes quite a bit, but the size never does.

Yeah, got to be quick at Tire Rack, they seem to be out of stock very quickly.
Also expect with the new tariff on Chinese tires for the 155's to get more expensive.

I switched to 155-80-13s and on sidewall it said max 44psi so of course I had to see the difference.. Believe me you feel every bump and crack in the pavement. Yea 32 sounds about right.

Trade off between comfort and maximum MPG.
32 psi = comfort
44 psi = maximum MPG (and occasional blood in urine)

Are these tyres too big for the festiva? Do they rub against the rear shock absorber?

I was under the assumption you put in whatever the tire itself calls for... I may be wrong, but I don't know why else a tire would have a psi rating if it didn't matter...?

You are wrong. You go by what the car manufacturer says.

The tyre pressure rating is only the maximum pressure of that specific tyre can hold. If the car factory tells you it's 29 psi, then 29 psi it is. but if you wish to load that tyre with weight that 29 psi is too low you can inflate it up to the maximum tyre pressure recommended on the tyre.

When I worked at the shop I worked at we inflated most cars to 35 psi. I find the door jam pressures to be too low for my liking. I usually run max sidewall because Im stingy about saving gas and also like a firmer sidewall. Havent really noticed any uneven wear from it either. A bit harsher ride but Ill deal.
