  • Broken Festie...HELP lol

I jumped in the Festie to take a ride up to the store. Started fine shifted into R and went back like 15 feet. It died. Tried to restart nothing it just cranks and cranks. It is a healthy fast crank so I know it should have started! Well I shot a little starting fluid in and just the same crank. Next I pulled a plug grounded it and looked for spark...NOTHING. I went to Autozone and got a coil pack. Only $26 and mine looked stock all dirty and junk built up. I thought that I would replace it anyway. Got the new one and same crap. Crank and crank no start. I now went and got a cap and rotor. I am going to replace them...Any other ideas?
    TIA

Did fuel spray out when the plug was out? If not, check the timing belt.....

When I pulled the plug I recall seeing what looked to be "dust"--"puff". Now that I think about it I think that it was fuel spraying out. I would have to say hat it is getting fuel however I am going to check into it farther in the morning. Thanks for the suggestions. I am going to look for that fuse in the morning too!

if the rotor turns, take some brake clean and hose down the inside of the fdizzy and look for oil. the internal seal likes to leak into the dizzy and shroud the pickup (no spark). spray it down and allow to dry. then fire it up again.

there is but not sure at the moment where. It is the little box sitting on the strut tower that has 3 wires hanging out. make sure none of the ends are corroded or broken.

The other contributors are correct and get a replacement igniter or a replacement distributor from an auto wrecker (with a guarantee) and find top dead centre for no.1 and set the timing mark to TDC before refitting the dizzy...then you can set the timing but at least it should start straight away if the dizzy is correctly fitted.

Disty can only go in one way....does not matter about top dead center. Only thing is the rotor...it can go on 3 different ways....so pay attention when you take it off.

OK here is the update...I got a new cap rotor and coil pack for it. I decided to replace all of them due to the fact that I have no idea how old anyone of them are and the coil looked stock. When I was replacing them I thought that I turn the car over and see if the rotor turned. It didn't...I took off the timing belt cover sure enough broke. I had my friend replace it and it started up ran for a few min then snapped the belt again? Anyone know whats wrong with this thing??
