Just went out and looked at my 89. I have an orange/blue wire that connects to the dizzy and hits a small white connector in front of the dizzy. Next to a larger black square connector and a white round connector. I also have a blue wire that comes from under the dizzy, in a bundle with two other wires that run to the coil. Not sure which one you've got unhooked.

The schematic shows a blue with orange stripe single wire that comes from the igniter in the distributor, and connects to the harness that moves toward the radiator support and on to the main harness that goes to under the dash. There it connects to the barametric pressure switch which advances the timing for high altitude operation. You must be missing the other end of the connector by the distributor. Both cars I have here have wires which have the insulation cracked on them, and I think my others do too. This must have been a common thing. Look at the wiring that is wrapped in tape toward the radiator support, and you will likely find the other end to connect the wire to.
