  • over heating problem

ive noticed yesterday that my car was running hotter then usual the needle was 3/4 to H and noticed the fan was not kicking on. I also tried my interior fan to no avail. I turned the car off then noticed the cooling fan turning on and my interior fan started as well. What could be the problem?? the fusible links?? or relay?? please help

So, with the car running, neither the cooling fan, nor the blower work, but with the car off and key out, they both work?

Two commonalities (how's that for a 50 cent word?) appear to be the main (center) fusible link and the only 20 amp fuse in the panel under the dash. I'd check those. The fusible link first, pull the jumper carefully and check for corrosion, then check the interior fuse. I don't know the number placement off the top of my head, but according to my owner's manual, it should be the only 20 fuse under there.

        Use these instead...(see post 4). http://www.fordfestiva.com/forums/sh...highlight=fuse

Make sure you have the long ones. The parts store can show you the difference.

I don't think there are any particular problems with the old-style wire fuses, but at least with the new ones you can tell immediately if it's blown, and it just looks classier. And you can get 'em at the McParts. If he only has 40s, just use them at least for now. At the JY you can find 30s in some cars; just make sure they're the long-legged ones, like in John's picture. Most cars I've seen in the JY have the short-legged ones.

This fuse problem is pretty common for these cars right?? How does putting a higher rated fuse help with the intermitent problem of the cooling fan/interior fan of my car???
