      Yep.

Milehighbear, I can remember charging systems being tested that way back in the day, so I know where you're coming from. Just don't think that works anymore.

Not to go against what Mr Festy has said but I have run one of my Festy's plenty of times without a battery. I have jump started it to get it running and then drove it around....moved it. I have not had a problem with it yet....not saying I won't....but mine is still running strong.

Alternator is bad. Make it sit in a corner for a "timeout".

                  Ouch!
If you weren't in need of the car ASAP, keep in mind you can place a [WTB] in the For Sale/Want to Buy forum.
                  Many of us have spares.
Hope you got a good warranty with the new ALT.

Still sucks to pay that much for a festiva ALT, especially when we known a number of ALT from other vehicles are direct fits and should be cheap at a JY.
Sometimes your between a a SP3 hybridized three dimensionally bonded carbon crystal and a hard place and just have to bite the ballistic projectile.
                        We've all been there!
But now, you know about fordfestiva.com so, hopefully, you'll spend more time here and learn how to cheaply and effectively repair and improve your festiva.
