just did it, got 8 flashes that went pretty quickly.

    which is
    08- Airflow sensor (1990-1993)

08- Mass Air Flow Sensor (1994-later)

This is a refurbished unit i just got from advanced auto? Could it be bad or maybe the plug has problems?

Anyone have the pinout on the plug so i can test to see if the volts are there for each pin?

***EDIT**** I was thinking it could be 18 also cause it flashes it 1 time long then 8 fast....but there isnt an 18 on the code list?

i also had bought one from the junkyard, that had the same symptoms so i figured it was bad and got a "new" one. Ill just get this one swapped and see what happens

If your VAF is unplugged it should not idle.
It should start and run for about 3 sec and shut down.
The VAF has a micro-switch in it activate my the movement of the vane to start the fuel pump.
If the VAF is disconnected the fuel pump should not be running, meaning there should not be fuel getting to the engine.
SO it seems you have more than a VAF issue.
Has there been re-wiring of the engine harness?

Can you unplug this one and it still idle?
