Unhook the battery for like 10 minutes usually does it.. but I would get the code first just in case its something important.

they only thing that ever set off my CEL "check engine light" was the O2 sensor... i had one of those cheapo A/F gauges and when ever i was driving and it wasnt acting "normal" the CEL would come on... then it would start acting normal and the CEL would go away... then i got a new one and it never did it again... you may want to get a new O2 sensor, they make your moror run smoother if the old one is worn out and it will also get you better MPG

There's always the option of putting a piece of black electric tape over the light so you can't see it.:p

Man, what is it about Festivas and the holidays? Seems there are several threads or posts about problems that cropped up in the last couple of days. My left rear tire decided to go flat for no apparent reason yesterday. Pumped it back up about noon, or so, yesterday. Hasn't lost an ounce of air since then.

+1. But if you do change the O2 sensor, get the Nippondenso. Not sure the generic Bosch one-wire sensor will keep the CEL from reappearing.

Only time my light came on was if I forgot to plug the 02 sensor back in after messing with it. Might just check the wire first.

Yeah definately need to find out what code its throwing. But I would add if you want to clear it out. Unhook battery and then turn on headlights. Doesnt need to be long, maybe a few seconds.

i just changed my o2 sensor due to the cel turning on when the weather is cold. I surely noticed an increase in fuel mileage maybe around 10-15% increase. Its worth the change go to Ebay thats were i got mines for 30 dollors!!! compared to the 100 at checker auto parts!!!!

I know I shouldn't, but I'm going to ask anyway. Do you have a history of falling on car batteries and breaking them?:p

Only time my cel ever came on- it would blink on and engine would hesitate during warmup- only would happen a couple of times a week. I checked- code for ect sensor- replaced ect and no problems since. Definetly check code before clearing, or it will most likely be back.
