  • gas mileage went to crap

i have a 93 it started running bad it would idle but when i pushed the gas it would die i changed the plugs wires cap button fuel filter it started and went but missed bad when i gave it alot of gas that worked itself out but now the gas mileage has gone to crap its using twice the gas before all this happened i ran it really low on gas then filled it up the filter was nasty but i also think i might have got some bad gas with water in it anyone got any ideas on what it could be i have not put any new gas in it yet

Was it just one tank you checked it with? I'd fill it up and check it again, it could have been bad gas.

+1 on air filter, and I will add clogged catalytic converter. Also O2 sensor; and stick a bottle of fuel system cleaner in the tank.

I'm a big fan of Sea Foam. I've seen it clear up some nasty miss and hesitation problems. I had a weird hesitation in my car when I first got it. I mixed a bottle of Sea Foam and a bottle of Chevron Techron, put it in the tank, and then filled it up. That took care of about 95% of the problem after I ran through that tank and got better a couple of more fill ups later. The more I drove it, the better it ran.

you probably ruined the o2 sensor with it running with a miss, replace it with a denso unit and your milage should come back.
