  • Rear defrost help

I have rear defrost on my festy, it does not work. The dash switch was bad, I just replaced it. I now get the light on dash to come on, but defrost still does not work. Anybody tell me how to troubleshoot this thing? I searched, found out how to repair breaks, but not much on figuring what my problem is with it. Thanks....

Have you checked to make sure you have power at the defrost itself with switch on? May have cut along the line or something.

Or you don't have a ground to chassis from the hatch. See if a test light can help find out at the furthest point, then work your way back. The grids have a bad habit of being damaged too.

If there is damage to the lines you can go to a parts store and buy a repair kit.

Even if there was damage to the grid lines the rest should work. At least in our old honda it did. My buddy was putting tint on the rear window when he scraped a couple of lines while cleaning it with a razor blade. Most of them worked, but you could definately tell which ones had a break.

So I would have to say you are not getting power to the back or it is not grounded.
