  • Transmission Not Engaging

Bought my white 92L (Not Running) from a Guy that Bought it from a Girl. The 1st thing I Noticed was that the Clutch falls Straight Down VERY easy but manages to Pull itself back up if let off so the Return Springs works. I Popped the Hood & Had a friend push the clutch in. Everything outside the Transmission seems to be operating perfectly. The cable & Swing arm mounted on the trans Moves back & fourth while pushing in the clutch. I had asked the guy I purchased it from what the issue was w/the clutch & His Reply was "I'm Not sure but the Girl mentioned Something happend while they were driving down here from GA". My First thought is a good ol' clutch replacement but want to double check your opinions. thanks

thats why I mentioned (Not Running) above but I guess I have'nt Fully Tried it Yet as the Battery is Dead. I may have to wait till it gets a bit warmer & Get a Good Battery in it to see if it will even crank. I was Just assuming it don't run since the clutch seems like its not engaging or disengaging anything. The Clutch is Very easy to push down hardly any effort.

Springs on the pressure plate are probably worn out......Replace clutch.

make sure the axles are fully seated in the trans before attempting any other repairs.

I had Planned on Taking the Transmission Out of the car. I Did'nt think there was enouph room to leave the trans in to remove clutch. axles seated in tranny is needed to install the clutch?

Justin, Whats Up With Capitalizing The First Letter Of Some Words?

to answer your question- axles will need to come out for the transmission, then transmission removed to install the clutch on the flywheel.

Re-read your question & let me know why you did it first :tongue1:

Thanks for clearing that up. Festyboy had mentioned to leave them in & sounded strange but maybe I misunderstood.
