put a pipe wrench on the hex portion of the tie rod, and then a long wrench on the tie rod end. then hit said wrench with a hammer. impact helps a lot. that is usually all I ever do. I just seem to have a hell of a time getting the end out of the knuckle! I've gone through 3 ends in a year because they wouldn't budge or the threads were dead (and the nut too...).

Ok this helped me years ago on how to remove tie rods very easily. I know this picture does not represent a Festiva or Aspire but it will get the point across.

Ok now see where the arrow is pointing? That is where you want to whack with your hammer, hitting the side of the spot where the tie rod goes in. On the Festiva there should be a flat spot or a spot that sticks out on the knuckle. That is where you whack with the hammer. Dont worry you arent going to damage anything. You hit it after you remove the nut and after you whack it good enough the tie rod should just pop out on its own. Usually when I hit them I hit them with a 3 or 4 pound mini sledge and the tie rod goes flying up out of the knuckle. Works everytime no problems. Also doesnt damage your threads on your tie rod either. Give it a shot some time.

Has caught the most Festivas on Fire on this board!!
