  • warms up and dies

Hey, I've been working on this 1991 5spd, everything was working perfect on the car, then I tried driving it a while, once it warmed up, I tried taking off in it, it died and wouldnt start again, would crank, but wouldnt fire. I left it sit overnight, and then tried starting it in the morning, started just fine. Drove it around, warmed up, died again while taking off, and wouldn't start again.

well, new problem, it died on my dad last night, so he pushed it to our second house, went there just now and she still wont fire, just cranks over.

Do you have spark and fuel? Check the basics...

we have spark, and fuel i assume, i should probably check to make positive, but i went over to it, sprayed a little bit of starting fluid in the air intake, took a little turns, but she fired. I drove it around for a good half hour, shut if off and started back up multiple times without any problems. soo, it has to be getting its fuel if it kept running, right?

when its running, yes. But what about when it won't start. Do you have spark and fuel at those times?

Also check fuel pressure... not sure on the specs but it might need more fuel pressure to start than it needs to run.

I had this same problem on my 93, turned out to be the pickup in the disty(needed to replace dist), once it got a little heat from the engine it quit working. But run it until it stalls and wont restart, then check for spark and fuel.

yup, that's part of checking fuel. Pressure, flow, injector pulse width.

And no, the pressure is regulated by vacuum for emissions primarily. Should be around 40psi KOEO.
