    Weird Brake Issues

    Hi all! Thanx in advance for any help!
    I looked in the forums the best I could for answers before posting this, but just wanted finding what i need. Here is whats up.

    The other day i was driving my car. Stopped to put air in the front tire, got back in and had NO brakes at all! I checked my master cylinder and my fluid was right up. But NO BRAKES AT ALL!
    Limped i to my parents and parked it. Came out after visiting to find fluid on the ground. Found the brake line where it comes thru the firewall on the drivers front wheel to have broken from rust.
    So replaced the brake line. And cant seem to bleed the brakes now.
    I took the master Cylinder off and bench bled it, but it just doesnt seem to bleed upto full pressure where you can barely push it in. Its a brand new one thats only like 3 months old.

    So i got it back on the car, attached the lines, and this is where it gets weird. The Front Passengers side brake will bleed fine, and the rear drivers side wheel will bleed fine. plenty of fluid etc. BUT!!! The Drivers side front wheel and the passengers side rear wheel just do NOTHING.

    Does the proportioning valve thing on the firewall, cross over the brake fluid, one front and one rear on opposite sides?

    I have done plenty of brake jobs before, but have to say im getting kinda frustrated right now with this one. need my car back running bad, but not sure if its a Master Cylinder problem? or what?

    Any and all advice is appreciated!

    Yes, the brakes lines are connected cross-wise [Left Front & Right Rear on one line, Right Front & Left Rear on the other line.] pattern.
    Bleed brakes in this order: Right Rear [Farthest from Master Cylinder], Left Rear[next Farthest], Right Front, & Left Front.
    Your Proportioning Valve maybe bad.

      Or has a flake of rust plugging it off. If the pedal was pumped further than it is usually, I have had two master cylinders with cut cups inside from rusted bores on my Festivas after a line let go like on yours. Just be glad you didn't loose all your brakes when it happened. You really find out quickly just how good you have been keeping up the adjustment on the parking brake!

        Is there any way of testing the propotioning valve? I called the only autowreckets near me who had a festiva and they just crushed it.

        My master Cylinder is only like 3 months old, was a brand new one.

        Have to say im gettin frustrated and probally not thinking the clearest.

          The real problem is the proportioning valve is a bear to get to. If you can get it loose, and blow back the lines........
          The other failure point is the junction just in front of the drivers rear wheel. Check your line while you are down this far that runs to the passenger rear wheel over the gas tank. That 90 degree turn at the connector before it heads over to the other side will likely be about as bad as the line you just changed.

            Im really learning to hate brakes! LOL Called around today and no one had a proptioning valve. The one Autowrecekers here who had a festiva, decided to smuch it. So its gone. This totally sucks! Hate not having wheels!!!

              Crack the lines at the distribution block (what you're calling a proportioning valve) and bleed to that point. Then go to the wheels.
