Been tuning around on my Weber 32/36 carb. Getting close to a good running set up by changing jets. I was curious as to what members that have a Weber carb on their Festy's, what jets they wound up with after tuning?
Mine was a mess(used, but good shape), the guy I got it from obviously didnt know what he was doing.
These are what I have installed now:
Idle Jets
primary=.050
secondary=.055
Main Jets
primary=.140
secondary=.145
Air Correction Jets
primary=.165
secondary=.175
When I removed the jets from the carb, I was atonished!!! The guy had been soldering and drilling out the jets, what looked like, by hand!!! Could'nt tell what sizes were in there. He had even ground off 1/16 of the bottom of one of the air correction jets at an angle, had soldered closed a hole drilled sideways on it and.... well... basically a mess!!!! Had been doing the same with the Main's too. He had .175 in the primary main.
Had jets reversed with the bigger ones on the primary's. So I had nothing to reference, just had to take my best guess.
I have it to where it doesnt bog to bad on throttle stomp now. Just bogs a tiny bit. Close, but more tuning needed. Before I started tuning, trying to take off was a PITA. It would bog real bad and try to die (almost to the point it would try to hit your face on the steering wheel), then catch up and take off like like a missle. Now it'll do a smooth take off, but can hear it bogging somewhat. Probably running on the rich side still. Time for a highway tryout.
The VW place I buy the jets from locally, is out of the smaller size jets. I got the smallest he had. The idle jets I think are about right, but I may need to drop down on the Mains.
Any ideas from anybody that did this in the past?
