  • defrost blows cold air

I know Festivas only blow warm air through defrost and feet but my 90lx just blows cold out every vent even when engine warms. Thinking maybe new heater core? What's a good way to check?

It is probably plugged.....or you may have a mouse nest inside the housing preventing the heat from releasing.

I would take the heater hoses off the heater core and put the nozzle of a pressure washer at a car wash in each tube and flush it out. If nothing comes out, reconnect the hoses, and check for that pesky mouse nest. LOL

            OH MY...LMAO! :laughing2:

Yes, I bypassed the heater core when I did the "Cascade flushing of oily goo from the engine", after the PO blew a head gasket.

I bet if you feel the heater hose it gets toasty warm...

I would recommend flushing both ways of the heater core BEFORE putting into service.

Any particular method to flush or what to use?

Ford says to use "Cascade" dish washing liquid. You could mix some in warm/hot water using a gallon jug. Using a funnel to pour it into the hose. Let it sit, and flush it out using a garden hose.

I don't know why "Dawn" dish soap wouldn't work. It gets grease off my hands and I don't see it ruining the components.

                        Just my 2¢.

Yeah we went with Dawn awhile back and seemed to work well. I'm glad we got it taken care of, Winter driving is just too cold without any heat haha
