  • OEM horn location in engine bay...

I'm trying to fix my horn for inspection. I open the hood to look for the horn itself, and find nothing. I looked everywhere within the engine bay. Does anyone have a pic of where the horn is supposed to be? I have an aftermarket steering wheel with the button for it, I just have to see if I can re-wire the darn thing. If not, I'm gonna have to look around in the For Sale section for a used one.

Don't have a pic but mine is on the left/passenger side of engine compartment by the strut tower & alternator. Hope that helps man.

Stock location (at least on the '90-'93 cars) is passenger side behind the front bumper. You have to look up under the bumper for it, its not visible from the engine compartment. Its possible to get it in and out of there with the bumper on, but much easier with it off. I've had to put a new horn on every festiva I've bought lol. You can get a junkyard horn from a lot of different cars, as long as they have only one plug and wire going to them and bolt on with one bolt they are pretty much direct bolt in. The wire is the (+) wire coming in, and it grounds through the bolt. If you get one with a 2 wire plug its not too hard to make that work either, just figure out which side goes to ground and ground it, the other hooks to the (+) wire. I've used horns off of Fords, Nissans, Mitsus, Mazdas, and Chevys on various festivas. As long as they're not huge they usually fit.

no pic right now but the stock horn locations are the front left and right corners of the front bumper lay down under these corners and look up youll see them Lx's and GL plus's had two horns one on each side and l's and GL's had one horn

the horns are flat round circles about 3 inches in diameter

The original is usually still there, I've seen several at the JY that had aftermarket ones under the hood and the factory one still in the bumper  I think a lot of people just put a new one under the hood lol

I just checked...they are nonexistant. I'm just going to find one off of the For Sale section here and mount it within the engine compartment.

                any horn

Any horn from any car will do.
There are a lot of better quality/sound horns than the one on the Festiva.
I personally recommend two horns with different tones. There is a second wire on the drivers side for the other LX horn.

I may end up getting this...doesn't require an air tank.

IMO, I wouldnt get those, I had a set similar to those in my dodge truck, they turned out sounding like those rediculous horns they start marathons with... I took them out right away

Well my options are pretty limited at the moment...it's either this or the dixie horns. And I don't want the dixie horn.

                              collector

I have a horn collection of about 30 different horns.
My favourite is still the Jubilee bull horn.
I almost had a herd of cattle push down a fence when I mooed them.
                              They sure were excited.
It's also good for other species as well (if you know what I mean).
You will be surprised at what comes out of their mouths.
Doesn't work on cats, dogs, sheep or horses very well.

These beep beep horns are more for a little Festiva.
