    Standard "speedo only" cluster?

Are you talking lighting or the whole shebang? Is your speedo working?

I really can't see ALL the connections coming off at once...speedo clip and two wireset plugs.

Have you taken it out and looked at it?

If you just mean the speedo it may have a broken cable.

when you get a chance add your location to your profile. As for the speedo....the fuel and temp gauge also do not work? Was this before or after you had it out?

You should be able to order a speedo cable from a McParts store; if one doesn't have it, keep looking, someone will be able to get it. Or try RockAuto.com.

Check your fuses if you haven't already, for the broken fuel and temp gauges.

I'm thinking if they have separate power and common ground it's most likely the ground.

should i try to use a multimeter??? would that diagnose the problem? and it should be at roughly 12 volts right?

If the speedo casing is OK, get a core made up at any speed shop. Here are the diagrams for the gauges. They are from a 1990 EVTM, but how much did they change? There is another splice after S219 that feeds the cooling fan relay, or does the key - lights warning buzzer work? If so then the Meter fuse and S219 are good.
