help, lights flash and idles really rough

What color smoke? Running rough+smoke could be it's running way too rich. Are you sure the ECU you put in is the correct one? If you have a coil on hand there is no harm in swapping it out since it won't cost you anything but time, and would rule at least 1 thing out. Check your plugs and wires as this can cause at least part of the symptoms you describe. There a ton of things you can try to diagnose the problem. My way is always to start with the simple and easy things first. Air/fuel/spark . A can of your fave fuel system cleaner might not hurt either especially if it sat for awhile. Good luck!

its a bluish white smoke and the coil is good. and the ecu is the right one. wires are good. and im putting new plugs in today so we will see if that helps. and it hasnt sat for long.

i know that, it only smokes when it runs rough. i got it to happen when i turned lights on bright and blinker, im thinking alt but i just had it check but wouldn hurt to again. cause u shut it off and start it again and it runs fine.

check how much AC is being produced by your Alt. should be no more than .5vAC

ya im starting to think that it is. ive been helping a friend do some work on his race car so havent had time to work on it. im gonna check it out and see if its any good. im hoping this is the only problem
