  • is there a difference in efi and carbed Cam Shaft on a b6

I have pieces of my engine floating all over town now. so I can not check to see if this will drive the mechanical fuel pump or not. can someone verify that this cam will drive a fuel pump?

if not i would like to have time to find a new one.

    thank you

looks like you have a pump lobe there right behind the dizzy slots, though it looks like it's not been ground to run a pump (hard to tell from picture).

I'm with FestyBoy, If it isn't out of an Aspire b3 it will work. The EFI festy's had the lobe and a cover on the head that could be removed with two bolts and used on a carby engine with ease.

May want to polish the pump lobe some. It would be easier on the pump arm.
It looks a little rough in the pic.
I would think that all the camshafts would have the lobe for the mech fuel pump, unless of course, they did away with it in the later efi model years to save on material costs. Correct me if i'm wrong.

                    im in LA

Sitting shorts an t-shirt in LA.

Got the lobe surfaced today. Cam guy said " I don't work on Mazda's but give me $20 and I will make it shinny" I got the head back from the shop it looks great. tossed the pump on and put the cam in. I could turn it by hand all the way around with a lot of effort. it appeared to activate the pump and did not seem to bottom it out either hope it works

                    picture coming soon.
