  • HELP! Brake Pad install Problem :(

Hi Guys,, I tried installing a new Brake Pad, followed all the steps on the Haynes Manual,, Deppressed the Caliper Piston, was able to slide a new brake pad on the inner side (caliper Piston side),, but on the outer side,, there was hardly any space, I was able to pull the old outer Brake pad but there was just no space for a new thicker Pad,, I did not expect it to bump into this issue, I was in the impression that when you deppress the caliper piston there will be space on both sides for a new Brake pad,,
should I be replacing my rotor? or calipers? Please help me on this issue,,
    92 L ,,stock Brakes
I would really appreciate all comments or suggestions..

Wonder if your caliper slides are frozen.
Not permitting the caliper to open all the way to insert new pads.
Assuming you got the correct pads.
Since you don't tell use anything about your car I'm going to assume it is a festiva and has not had the aspire swap done to it!

my car is all stock brakes,, 92 L,, I was able to completely deppress the caliper piston.. lots of space on that side, but on the outer side is another story the space available between the rotor is so small, that you cant slide a new thicker pad. I got my pads from autozone part # MKD402 its a Duralast brand. Is this a misaligned or Broken rotor?? I appreciate all replies.

OK, one more time, the caliper slides are what permits the outer pad to engage the rotor.
If they are stiff or frozen then there will not be enough room to insert a new pad.
Pull the caliper slide bolts out and see if they need cleaned and lubed.
