It's risky putting foreign objects (including keys from other Festies) into your ignition switch. Then can not work and get STUCK (i.e. not be removable).

After some bozo broke into my house and stole the keys to my entire fleet, I've pulled passenger door lock cylinders from several of my cars and had new keys made for $35 each. It takes no more than 15 mins to get a cylinder out.

I now keep track of the numbers in my important paper files so I can get new keys made anytime with ease.

yeah, I was about to say, maybe the locksmith won't require you to have the lock cylinder with you to save you the hassle of removing it. Even tho it isn't hard to remove. cuz by the time you see the number on it you could remove the rod and retaining clip and call it a job well done.

I seem to have lost mine yesterday too!!!!

I just use........ well, anything that fits in the slat. LOL! Popsicle sticks, screwdrivers, other keys, etc.

Hope I find it soon though, it's a pain otherwise. Maybe it's at work....

I think he is referring to "shaved" keys.
They are illegal to posess because they can be used on other festivas.

they're so basic it's almost like having a shaved key...

I actually use my dad's (and used to be mine for quite a few years) 92 toyota pickup truck key. I keep it on my work keys for the few times I've stupidly locked mine in the festy. lol.

I would like to know how to shave a key. I have several festiva keys that go in but won't turn the ignition or starter on. One of them tries to slightly but stops.

or you could take the ignition to a locksmith and have him make a key for you?

I found one of my keys. Our locksmith says $22.50 with the numbers from the passenger door lock. Not to bad but I'm trying to save even that if I can.

as far as the keys go, it's about 13-14 bucks a key at our local locksmith but all charge different rates, go figure
