What are some things that can be done to improve car. I read a post about EGR valve cleaned. Got any suggestions?

89 L carb'd - white / still needs work
Bought for mpg and only paid $250

Spark Plugs (wires if needed)
Oil change/filter
Coolant flush
Filters (air,fuel)- Alot of people drill holes into the air intake housing just under where the filter sits. That will allow more air flow and improve performance, a little.
Check the brakes all around. Make sure none of them are dragging or that you don't have any weeping brake cylinders.
Check tires/pressure
Some people like to run a can of sea foam. It has worked great for me in the past.
Maybe put some fuel additive in your next tank.
Give it a wash and wax and call it a day!

Check tire pressure.
Change transmission fluid.
Grease wheel bearings.
Oil hinges and cables.
Check idle speed and timing.
