^^ I second that motion. Probably didn't respond to the initial spraying since the gap was normally closed at idle but was opened when the engine was placed under load and rocked back slightly in the engine bay. Had it happen on various vehicles in the past. Still might want to pull the air tube off and inspect for cracks, or just switch to the Aspire tube like getnpsi suggested, makes for a cleaner looking engine bay and a more visible valve cover

Thanks Jay. I'm going to wait until I install the B6 to decide on that.

So the stumble came back. I'm going to swap out the whole intake tube and see if that takes care of it.

Airbox should not be causing the problem. Any extra air getting in there is still passing through and being metered by the VAF. Unless there is some obstruction in the airbox but that should be pretty easy to determine after removing the VAF. Could also be a problem with the VAF itself. But a leaking airbox won't cause a stumble. Think of how many guys have "swiss cheesed" or cut their airbox for better flow on the motor swaps. Heck, DJ used to have the filter zip tied to the bottom of the VAF with no airbox at all on his BP car

But the vaf is the part that is plugged on the airbox yes? If I switch out the airbox that would eliminate everything associated with the airbox. Right?

Switched airbox with the maf. No change. This is getting old. I guess I will try checking the new plugs and wires. Frustrated.

I have pretty much this exact problem. (Stumbles a bit under load. Idles sometimes at 600, sometimes at 1000.) It seems to come and go, but it's definitely there. When I replaced the plugs/wires, the wire that goes into the coil was terribly corroded, and broke apart. I've just assumed it's the coil, and have been waiting to get a new one. Is the stock Festiva coil the only option, or are there after market coils that will work?
                        BP, Aspire brakes, stock trans.

There are other high voltage coils which are compatible, but you need to make sure you use a resistor with them, should be included, or you'll burn the IC in your distributer.
There are threads with this info, let me see if I can find one.

Get a spray bottle and spray the plug wires around the plugs and see if you have spark jumping.
