It would run, but would quit under load (i.e.: would NOT pull a hill, even a tiny one, if it got warmed up)

If it was running before, why did you replace all this stuff? Just wondering if it wasn't a problem that was there before replacing all this stuff, and the new parts just didn't help it.

I think I know what you're talking about, any chance you have a picture of it anywhere? I might, I had a spare coil, so I'm sure if I keep digging I might find the module provided I can get a positive identity on itOriginally posted by kartracer46 View PostWeak coil would be my guess. There is an ignition module right next to it just a bit bigger than a postage stamp. If you have a known good one you might try it and see.

yes.... I checked the coil as well and it was a yellowish color, all my other cars typically have a bluish color coming from their coil (providing they're running correctly) so that leads me to believe that it's not getting enough power to the coil??? it putts like it's trying to fire on one cylinder ever couple of rotations.... any ideas? I hope I'm not talking completely in some alien language...

Did you note the position of the old motor prior to pulling the distributor?
I like to mark the old housing with a Sharper for the motor position as well as the housing to the motor. Then I try to transpose those marks to the replacement.

it was running to begin with, are there any relays before the coil by chance? something that would cause it to produce a reddish yellow spark (when checking the coil) as opposed to the blue color it's supposed to produce if it's not pumping through the correct number of volts/amps

Correct on the rotor, depending on design!Originally posted by 91mcnasty View PostDid you make sure You put the rotor back in right? It can go in three ways and it's easy too do so its worth a try.
And someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure you can Put the dizzy in 180 degrees out pretty easily you might try that to
Denso rotors tend to fit more precisely than after market.
Incorrect on distributor, it is keyed/slotted to fit on only one way. But I'll bet the timing per individual disy is not exactly the same. So even a careful swap will like need at least a minor adjustment. That being said I wouldn't think it would be so far off that it wouldn't at least start. Provided it was running to begin with.

I based the firing order off of my mother's properly running festiva....

Are the spark plug wires in the correct order? And you probably messed with timing when changing the distributor.
