Just an update. My battery was going dead so I took the long way a round to having the alt and battery tested. The battery of less than a year old failed while the alternator passed. The battery was replaced at no cost by the parts store after I found the receipt. The voltage was still running low across the terminals so I pulled the alt and had it tested by itself. It passed and I bought and installed new belts. I was still getting 12.6-13.6 volts across the terminals. I then bumped up the idle on the car and that has seemed to help. I have been checking the volts from time to time and I am seeing numbers from 12.6-14.2. I don't believe the problem is solved and with the electrical gremlins this car has I am not sure I will.
I have tested and replaced the problem parts and the issue persists. I always carry jumper cables and often have a share battery so I think be alright if I run into this issue again.
I'm open to any ideas others might have and will try promising solutions. Thanks for all the ideas to this point.
