Well first I would like to get here to run. Which she kid of does right now. She just doesnt like the throttle. That is when she bogs down and dies. I will taste it after she is running well enough for me to drive it at least once. Before I have to tear into her again.Man should eat when he can for Man does not know when his last meal will be.

That port came plugged from the factory. The only other thing I can think of is my home made spacer is not air tight. In which my buddy welded it. I put new gaskets on the spacer/adapter for the carb, but the carb is still getting saturated. However, the gaskets are dry. So I guess him and I are going to be redoin the adapter/spacer. Unless someone has one of those cool professional looking ones for cheap.Man should eat when he can for Man does not know when his last meal will be.

I used the original distributor hoses. Left most stuff intact like the MAP sensor, the altitude sensor, etc. I'm haven't looked at it recently but I think all the necessary vacuum hoses come right out of the intake manifold. I didn't see any use in tearing out all the sensors. I wanted to avoid causing unnecessary problems and didn't want the CEL coming on. Mine runs smooth as glass now and gets almost 38 MPG. That's with an '89 323 B6. I could try to help you get things hooked up right, maybe take some pictures.

I know there are differences between '88 and '89 intakes so yours could be different. If you look at the right side of the carb from the front of the car, below it on the intake manifold there are some vacuum ports. The second one back needs to go to the upper port on the disty. Now if you look even further back and down some there should be a bunch of little vacuum pipes sticking out. The second one back of those goes to the lower port on the disty. Thats how mine is. My carb doesn't have any vacuum hoses to it at all. The one port on the back has a rubber cap on it. Hope this helps - Kenny
Just ask if you need more help.

I assume you know the distrib has an off-set "tang" on it's shaft...it's designed that way so the distrib only goes/interlocks into the camshaft one way.
Whenever you get coughing back through a carb or throttle body, the opening of the valves is out of sync, meaning the timing of the valves opening/closing is out of sync with the motion of the pistons. A broken camshaft will also show the same symtoms, but in your case, it wouldn't start at all.
