Electric fan issues

I went on a 120 mile trip this past weekend ,all was fine until I was almost home ,as I got close to home ,getting caught light after light ,the temp gauge started rising ,and I thought not now , I could only see ot being a head gasket .
But when i finally got out in the open again it came down ?
So when I pulled into the drive the gauge was up more than normal ,and the fan was not running ? I had the hood open ,I wiggled all the wires still no run ,while the car was still running.
So I shut the car off and cycled the ignition switch ,and the fan came on, and continued to run as I started it , all has been well since .
Is this a sign of a defective ign.switch

Probably the relay. Mine does that on occasion.. but it's the opposite. The fan will run and won't allow the car to start. Cycle the igniton a few times and it goes away. The wipers have a tendency to do it also.

sign of a defective driver?

i had that happen to me once, i never found out why it did that, and hasn't happened since

no but a friend was on the whole trip , It was happening thru town on my way to drop him off . :lol:
But I only cycled the key once ,and the fan came right on .
Like the switch had a bad contact ? only time will tell.
