Ok Passenger side seat belt refuses to work, i recently got another one at the pickapart, that one refuses to work, took apart motor it is still in really good condition not bound siezed or anything. The switch at the bottom of the door works( i assume that tells the car when the seatbelt should move back) because the domelight comes on when the door opens. What steps do i take from here. I already broke the trim piece above the door, so irratated....

likely a replacement modual is in order, they commonly fail due to moisture buildup. first is to find the correct wires in the harness and make sure you have continuity at all the pins.Trees aren't kind to me...

The switch that tells the seatbelt to move is not in the door jamb, it's in the door latch. It very well could be faulty. You could take off the door panel and check continuity between the switch and the control box under the drivers seat.-Zack

I don't have it on hand, pinout diagrams are buried in the garage right now...
I'm sure if you could get an eye on that wire behind the door panel, it should match up with one under the driver's seat. Use a multimeter to test the continuity of the wire.-Zack

My 91 Festiva stopped working a couple of years ago. I done everything I could think of. Quit messing with it until early this year. For some reason got my manual out of glove comp. and found out there is a small tool ( it was also in pocket as well, wasnt sure what it was all this time) that you could use to rewind belt or unwind it . My driver side belt was the problem. There is a small plug in the back seat area where the belt goes down. I took the plastic plug out and used the tool, ( similar or maybe a allen tool). Wound and rewould a couple of time up and down on the belt. Started the car and I be darn if that belt did not start and continues to work.
Who would have thunk to look in the Manual?

Could be a bad relay in the box or a broken wire between the box and motor.Last edited by crazyrog17; 12-22-2011, 09:42 PM.-Zack
