      Your problems illustrate the need of old car owners to learn to fix things themselves. The cost of hired labour (especially now at $100/hr) quickly negates the operating value of a car that otherwise has very little resale or insurance value.
      Much the reason there are few 20 year old cars on the road is because a forecasted $1000 brake and bearing job, or $2000 engine rebuild causes most owners to jettison the thing and start looking for another car. Festys by and large are fairly simple to work on (front wheel bearings and disc rotors being the exception; that's partly why all the Aspire swaps) but they do require care and attention and DIY labour in order to be practical and economical.
      There are days I say to myself; "get a life, quit playing with these lousy little cars, take out a bank loan and get a clean Toyota Echo" and then there are others where I'm proud to say "don't laugh buddy, it's paid for, I fix it myself, it's fun to drive and it gets 50 mpg (Imperial gallon)".

                Welcome aboard, Bobbi!

                Charlie - I don't know why I didn't say it before now, but thank you for your kindness, too. How many people would stand out in the cold to hand tools over at midnight in a Wal-Mart parking lot? Plus, your sense of humor greatly helped the situation.

                Case of beer award, now there's an idea.. :p

                ~Spike

                Also;

                91mcnasty - I hope to someday meet you, too. Maybe when it gets warmer!

                  haha no worries man! I would say anytime but I'd be lying :p All I can say is good thing Dennis was there! It was good to meet you and your mom. I'll wait all night in the cold if it means your festy gets fixed up and safe.

                  We will definitely need to have an Indy cookout/meet come spring time. Then we can go to the indy car hang out and show those ricers whats up!

                      The bp/ f series car needs to add to it's kill list so I'm cool with that!!!! Maybe I'll even have some tires so I can hook! And when it warms up a little we HAVE to have a little Indy get together!!! It would be cool to meet you spike. And consider yourself very lucky that you fell into dennis's hands, you have nothing to worry about!!! BTW, you need anything for your car like a spare ALTernator or anything? I'd rather see someone that needs it have it then a little monetary gain! Good day, kaleb!
