      Good quality ATF the Dextron type.Not type F. Its what the FORD manual calls out for.
      Some people like to read fiction,I prefer to read repair manuals. Weird I know-

        Haynes manual says the mark shown on your photo. That's what I use.
        Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

          U use dexron oil not a gear oil in a manual trans would like some more input on this

            i havent actually checked the trans fluid in any of my festivas iv had. i was told that you pull the speedo cable from the trans and there a dipstick of sorts on the end. looks like it was a good thing i was following this thread. now i know the right way to do it.
