on one of the dinosaur fuel injection systems that have no

^ they can't pull codes on anything older than 96, so don't waste your time. besides, i've never met any of those fools who actually KNEW anything beside what the screen in ftont of them said.Trees aren't kind to me...

fractions. I think Festyboy might be on this one the way it
acts, wiggling the VAF connector didn't help I assume but the VAF
door could be sticky..clean that area up good and make sure the
door is smooth to operate.
The TPS in this system is an old style and not likely to cause this
problem, however if it did turn the idle switch on it might buck
and cough a bit, you can unplug it, ignore the check engine light
and test drive to see if that symptom goes away. Additionally I
think it has its own code, not the generic "17".
Bad computer grounds on the engine can cause this.
A bad MAP sensor, goobered MAP sensor hose or carboned over MAP
sensor port can all cause this.
ANY bad ground to the o2 or anything that can effect o2 sensor voltage
can cause this. Even spark plug wires routed parallel to the o2 sensor
wire can trigger this code and cause the engine to cough.
Check all that, I have a hunch that the VAF is most likely where you
will find it like FestYboy says. report back!!Reflex paint by Langeman...Lifted...Tow Rig
