  • opening rear hatch without key

Not sure where to post this. Like i posted before i found a festiva at a JY by post. The JY owner does not have the key and the back hatch is locked. Is there a way to get it open without destroying the lock or hatch. I want to get the washer fluid reservoir cap and pump but i do not want to destroy the hatch in the process

take a cordless drill and drill the lock out.

or use a ''bump key'' to open it.

Use a panel removal tool and pop the rivets out of the back of the vinyl panel in the hatch, and you can get to everything very easily.

oh you said not destroy the lock.

bump kety or pick it open then.

not sure why you want to keep a lock with no key....drill the lock out and buy or find a new lock set with the key.

If you remove the access panel on the inside of the hatch you can unlock it. You can pry it off (access panel) gently with a screwdriver.

X2^^ A flat head will work just fine popping that rectangle vinyl panel on the hatch.

The JY owner wants to keep the hatch intact, I'd say.

I think you can see the lever from the inside. It's been a while but I believe there is enough gap between the hatch and body on the inside in the middle to flip the little lever with your finger.

Ok thanks, You are correct he does not want me to destroy the lock because he thinks he might have it somewhere. Doubtful i guess, i will just pull off that back panel and go that way, thanks alot.
