The module can be taken to some auto parts stores for free testing. They come with 5 yr 50,000 km replacment warranty so save the reciept. Also they should be bedded in dielectric heat transfer paste to protect them electric shock and from overheating. It's the same stuff they put under the CPU in computers and can be bought in small amounts at electronics stores, or Circuit City if you want to pay more. I had one fail within the warranty period becuse the mechanic did not bed it in anything.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.

Just noting that Kartracer takes his time and goes over to help christiva (yes, the handle was not wasted on me) who called on his deity to help him.
Does that make Kartracer his God or just and instrument of said deity?
We also note that above individual requested help, but I see no acknowledgment of rendered assistance.
I can only hope Kart received a thank you in person!
Not bad having a personal visit within hours of a request and are up and running shortly there after.'93 Blue 5spd 230K(down for clutch and overall maintanence)

drddan: I've had the module oof my carubretted '89 tested at two parts retailers here in Ottawa. They have to test them before replacement under warranty. When I did it there was only one company supplying the test equipment and they had a website and email contact.
I usually post that option so people don't just buy a replacment module to see if it fixes the problem. If the module is till good it saves about $150 in this area.Last edited by WmWatt; 03-05-2012, 10:40 AM.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.
