Could this part be causing lower gas mileage?

Also. What size are the vacuum hoses in the cars. I'm thinking of replacing them. Thinking I have vacuum leak.

Don't know the size but you can always take one with you when you go shopping, unless you are shopping online in which case you could probably just measure the diameter.

Does anyone know if the thermo sensor causes gas mileage to run lower.

I do not have my diagrams in front of me tonight but if this is the one that cuts vac advance to speed warm up it will absolutely slaughter gas mileage!! Canister not so much
air pre heat, not as much.

According to my carb manual, the white valve opens vacuum to the purge control valve at 131F. The blue valve opens vac to the fast idle cam breaker at 122F. Probably doesn't affect mileage unless it won't idle down.

I still do not have the diagram..playin hooky here.. but if this thermo switch shares
the vacuum source with vac advance it can kill the vacuum to other things when it
turns on. Also if you have split vac hoses you need to replace them. If I remember
right bulk vacuum hose was a odd size like 5/32 or something to fit this.

According to my diagram, the blue valve only affects the FICB and the white valve only affects the purge thingy.
