  • (non festiva) 93 town car air susp.

My father-inlaw has a 93 Lincoln Town Car that recently started having issues with the air springs(bags) leaking. Prior everything worked fine. Over the last long or two the check air suspension light would come on randomly never lost ride height. About 2 weeks ago it started sagging in the R/R. I lift it up and spray the air bag down with soapy water, bubbles everywhere. I find some clean non weathered bags in the yard, go to install them and now the pump doesn't kick on. Checked the fuse, its good. Checked power to the relay and all sockets do not light up the test light. I checked the level sensor, piped off the boot and cleaned the contact. What else should i try before I go grab a used pump from the j/y?
Im not driving a Festiva because I'm poor. I drive a Festiva because i want to!

Can you switch to coil springs? Like from a vic or marq?

The pump probably burned up due to running all the time from the leak.

These are so not worth the effort.. I've replaced dozens of these with regular coil springs. It's real easy to disable the light.

There is one in the yard with the springs on it, he really wants to keep the air. Would the motor burnt up cause the relay socket in the fuse panel to not have power on the switch or signal side?

there is an off switch in the driver side of the trunk, make sure its in the ON position... nothing will have juice unless its on.

I've sold and installed a couple of sets of these. Has instructions on how the turn off the light as well. I would describe the install as a 5 out of 10 for PITA in the drive way, but no special tools needed.

Come on now Arty, of coarse I tried the switch. When I flip it off then on the light goes off then comes back on in about 45seconds.

looking at the diagram, it appears that there's an open in the wire between the fuse and the motor relay. start at the back side of the fuse and start tracing!!!
