so i finally got the motor running sound. i fixed my massive miss aligned front end. so i take it on the street for the first time(in years). i put it in 1st and it takes off slow and normal, then when i let off the clutch it jerks bad and starts to die, does this in second too. i got a new fuel pump but i'm wondering if i got the wrong fuel filter or something else. when its idling its smooth theres a little hesitation when i hit the gas but it goes away the warmer the engine gets. the check engine light is NOT on so no codes to check. i replaced just about everything for a car that been sitting, new fluids, new fuel pump, new spark plugs, wires, dist cap ect. VAF comes to mind, mine seems to be working right, i have another one thats like new but it needs soldering. i do have the haynes manual now but i cant seems to find this issue.

Mine does the same thing only in first gear and if you change gears to early i think ir might be fuel filter. I knocked the guts out of my catalytic convertor and it helped a little there was a clog in it.

So it runs fine idling at high revs? It only misbehaves under load?
You might put the font end up on stands, start the engine, and put it in gear.Last edited by WmWatt; 05-21-2012, 07:38 AM.Original owner of silver grey carburetted 1989 Festiva. 105k km as of June 2006. 140k km as of June 2021.
